All New Hawkeye #1
Hawkeye returns in an all-new series featuring superstar writer Jeff Lemire in his Marvel debut and Eisner Award-winning artist Ramon Perez, as they bring you a fresh new look into the life of everyone’s favorite Avenger. With Kate Bishop, his trusted ward and protégé back at his side (not titles she would use), Team Hawkeye is thrown into an all new adventure spanning two generations of avenging archers. Past and present lives collide as Kate and Clint face a threat that will challenge everything they know about what it means to be Hawkeye. But no one puts Hawkeye in a corner. We’ve been loving Matt Fraction’s run of Hawkeye, and if anyone can take it over without either mimicking Fraction nor producing something underwhelming, it’s DEFINITELY Jeff Lemire.
Angela Asgard’s Assassin #4
We’ve been to Earth for street level Marvel fun. We’ve been to the Nine Realms for fantasy Marvel fun. Next up: deep space, for (er) deep space Marvel fun. Can Kieron and Marguerite resist the chance to write the characters from last year’s awesome summer blockbuster? Clue: Rhymes with Nardians of the Galaxy. (Of course not, you silly bears.) If we can’t get more Loki/Angela, we’ll happily take some Gamora/Angela! It seems like they’d be either best friends or else immediately murder each other. Previously discussed on our YouTube video, where we reviewed #3.
Birthright TP Vol 1
For the Rhodes family, losing their son was the most devastating thing that could have occurred…but it couldn’t prepare them for what happened when he returned. Previous issues have been reviewed by Katy Rex for Bloody Disgusting: 4 & 5
Samara and the other prisoners who managed to survive the Pagurani attack on the Towers are stranded on the battlefield, but they’ll need to find a way to trust one another before they can hope to find a transport to safety. They just better hope it happens before their Punch clocks hit zero… We reviewed the first issue of this series on our YouTube channel and in Comic Sense with Julia!
One young robot’s struggle to stay alive in a universe where all androids have been outlawed and bounty hunters lurk on every planet. A rip-roaring and heart-felt cosmic odyssey that pits humanity against machine, and world against world, to create a sprawling space opera from the creators of Trillium, Sweet Tooth, and Little Gotham. They’re right when they say it’s the Year of Lemire, aren’t they? If this description didn’t hook us, the cover absolutely would.
Continuing the new storyline CRUNCHED: Meet the Cubers-forgotten soldiers from a long-ago war, now starving to death on a planet full of food. But are they the key to the galactic conspiracy? Or is it the mysterious Quantum Trust? EGOs #5 has previously been reviewed on our YouTube channel.
Having first collaborated on the Eisner Award-nominated Spera series, the creative team behind HaloGen is no stranger to kickbutt ladies, epic world-building, and sweeping adventures. This time they’re strapping on their sci-fi boots for a series perfect for fans of Prophet, Rocket Girl, and The Fifth Element. There’s a rumor on Cityship Q that the gigantic body of a dead god was found floating in space. Rell, an agent woking for the HaloGen organization, is tasked with finding the location of the god and retrieving it by any means necessary. Using her ability to form hyperrealistic holograms, Rell is about to take on the first mission she might not be able to finish. A female-fronted title always gets our attention, so hopefully this one is as amazing as it looks!
Harley Quinn #15
Harley was certain she could have it all: She could be the world’s best landlord, protect Coney Island from the scum of the Earth, woo Mason Macabre, work her day job as a psychiatrist, volunteer at the puppy shelter…but that’s a whole lot of spinning plates, and eventually they’re bound to start breaking! What happens when a psychopath cracks up? Is it possible for Harley to go even more insane?! Oh no, Ivy’s on the cover! Do they know that’s Katy’s OTP? We just finished the Valentine’s special, and can’t wait for more Harley.
Hero Cats #4
Dangerous sinkholes are opening all over Stellar City and it’s up to the Hero Cats to save the day! Ace, Midnight, Cassiopeia, Belle, Rocket, and Rocco explore an underground world filled with new friends and adventures. Guys, it’s cats. They’re heroes. Maybe we’re not caught up on this, but what’s not to like?! We’re going to have to find the previous 3 issues because this just looks so cute.
A psychic dictator, an inhuman robot, a mad scientist, a murderous alien and a super powered terrorist are about to try and take over the world… And you’re going to be rooting for them every step of the way. THIS IS IMPERIUM. Previously reviewed the first issue on our YouTube channel, because, you know, Valiant. There’s something really special about a publisher that’s this enthusiastic about their titles.
Lady Killer #3
The pressure is on for Josie as the conflict increases between her cozy suburban home life and her work as a paid killer! No one said it’d be easy to be a wife and mother, but now she faces her toughest job yet-one where she’ll find out how cold-blooded she really is. Previously we’ve talked about Lady Killer, basically, everywhere: Capeless Crusader, Comic Sense with Julia, and our YouTube channel!

There are dark forces that don’t want the secrets of Buckaroo and its murderous past to be revealed. And the Nailbiter himself has to deal with being thrown in the spotlight again!
Guest-stars ultimate comic writer BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS! Also worth noting, Joshua Williamson also writes Birthright, another top pick for our week.
On a former U.S. moonbase, kept secret since the Cold War, a terrible key unlocks an ancient box and a last-ditch plan is drafted to save humanity from the doomsday asteroid Xibalba-but is it already too late? The nightmare intensifies in MORRISON & BURNHAM’s apocalyptic occult horror epic! Previously reviewed on Comic Sense with Julia.
Most people take drugs to escape reality. Neverboy, a former imaginary friend, does the opposite. He’s found a loophole that allows him to stay in the real world. As long as he stays medicated, everything’s perfect. But when the drugs wear off and reality fades, the forces that guard the borders between the real and the imaginary will be ready to drag him back to where he belongs. What. A. Cover, though!
Powerpuff Girls: Super Smash Up #2
The Powerpuff Girls’ inter-dimesional search for Dexter’s mutated sister Dee Dee has brought them to the doorstep of Courage the Cowardly Dog! But when they are mistaken for dog sitters, the Girls find themselves thrust into the disturbing nightmare that is Courage’s life. Plus, a Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends story-Bloo starts a “Small Club” while Wilt starts a “Tall Club” in response… Powerpuff Girls are always fun, and this series is ALL OF THE OTHER SHOWS TOO! Previously reviewed on our first YouTube episode!
Princess Leia #1
When Princess Leia Organa was captured by the Empire as a Rebel spy, she never betrayed her convictions, even in the face of the complete destruction of her home world, Alderaan. When her rescue came, she grabbed a blaster and joined the fight, escaping back to the Rebel Alliance and helping strike the biggest blow against the Empire-the destruction of the Death Star. But in the aftermath of that victory, the question remains…what is a princess without a world? A lot of these themes seem like the best parts of Queen Amidala, who was the only redeeming part of Episode I. And Leia is our new favorite Disney Princess! (bet it’s the first time you’ve heard that one)
For fans of Stray Bullets, Jennifer Blood, and Executive Assistant: Iris! Featuring actresses Karen Summer, Priya Anjali Rai, and Tanya Tate! A dark sexy action/thriller, Pussycats reveals how adult movie actresses helped the United States government whitewash identities during the Cold War. Karen Summer was such an actress that could arrange for transportation of “human resources” without causing international incidents. But a recent sting operation proves Karen was not decommissioned after the fall of the Soviet Union. And worse, ghoulish face-painted gunmen killing her friends proves her identity has been compromised, and everyone she knows is being targeted for blackmail. We have genuinely no idea how to react to this… but it could be really, really interesting.
Rat Queens #9
“THE FAR REACHING TENTACLES OF N’RYGOTH,” Part Four
Life in Palisade is a goblet of toasty sweet mulled wine. But this issue is the skull-pounding headache the next morning when all you’re left with is the consequences. And they are life-changing, awful ones at that. Do we like Rat Queens? See: Interview with Stjepan, interview with Kurtis & Roc, review of #8 for Bloody Disgusting, review of Braga one shot for Bloody Disgusting, the time we drove to New York for the d20 Burlesque Show, Katy’s t-shirt, tattoo, and her phone’s autosuggest prompts. We might like Rat Queens.
Dana’s quest for revenge leads her to a massive conspiracy. Em deals with getting what she asked for, and finds out that nothing stays buried in a town where the dead live. Gretch, Julia and Katy all live in Minneapolis, so this Midwest thriller feels just like home to us.
Robert Heinlein’s Citizen of the Galaxy #1
Just outside our galaxy the atrocities of slavery thrive, and young Thorby is just another orphaned boy sold at auction. But when he crosses paths with a mysterious crippled beggar, his destiny is forever changed. Citizen of the Galaxy is an interstellar action/adventure coming of age tale by the “Dean of Science Fiction”… Robert A. Heinlein! Can it be better than Valentine Michael Smith? Guess we’ll find out!
Gwendolyn’s quest takes an interesting turn. (Yes, this is the entire description– is it considered a cocky move if it works?)
Zombies vs. Cheerleaders: 2015 St Patty’s Day #1
The indie cult hit series returns with a special St. Patty’s Day one-shot! When someone spikes the green beer, even the luck of the Irish can’t save the doomed bar patrons. But perhaps an unassuming cheerleader will surprise us all! Plus, when cheerleaders and Lil’ Troops wage a turf war over selling baked goods, who will win? Don’t miss out on the fun and gore when Zombies and Cheerleaders collide on St. Patty’s Day! Ok, sometimes we just like some lighthearted fun!
